SA 93, World War 2 Mortar Impact Area

SA 93, the World War II Mortar Impact Area, is located on a hillside and valley at the northeast corner of Andrew Lake. The hillside and valley gradually slope southeast toward Clam Lagoon. The northern boundary is Hill 1045 (1,073 feet above MLLW) and the southern boundary is Andrew Lake. This area was reportedly used as a SAR and mortar target area during World War II. EOD has verified the presence of Munitions or ordnance such as 81-mm mortars and bomb burster tubes and has stated that the area may have been used as a rifle and pistol range by U.S. marine security forces stationed at NSGA. SA 93 covers approximately 380 acres that have been secured with fencing and signage.
